DVD Review – Beverly Hills 90210 – The Second Season

By Michael Sullivan

One of the most fun series of the 90’s is slowly coming out on DVD.

Aaron Spelling’s BEVERLY HILLS 92010 was Fox’s first breakout hit and viewers flocked to the show in record numbers to see how the Walsh twins would adjust to life in the 92010.

While the show was supposedly to showcase the series biggest star, Shannen Doherty…the 2nd season saw her pushed into the background as Luke Perry’s Dylan McKay became the biggest sex attraction on TV. His brooding portrayal of a “bad boy” who attracted the attention of Doherty’s Brenda. Fans also loved the other hookups on the show and in the early days of the series the writing was rather good. The show had also just started with what would become a staple both here and on its spin-off,Melrose Place…finding and showcasing new musicial talent.

The 2nd season DVD box set contains all 28 episodes, because of the show’s quickly growing popularity,Fox ordered 6 additional shows to bolster the usual 22 that normally comprise a season.

The special features section is a bit lean…you can meet Walshes, test your knowledge on Season 2 and check out 92010’s favorite Valentine.

This is a solid release and should whet your taste buds for the Season 3 release which should be out by late Fall of 2007.

You can pick this up at any and all major retailers.
