If you’ve been watching the Boondock Saints news updates through their website, newsletter or even the social networks; you’ll notice a mention about writer/director Troy Duffy building his dream Boondock Saints bike! You may also have noticed the charity promotions for the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank / Feeding America. The most common misconception I’ve noticed people having is they think this charity is for Los Angeles only. That isn’t true. The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank distributes millions of pounds of donated food to residents all year via food pantries throughout the United States. Now that we have that straight, let’s move on…

Troy has been working with L.A. Speed Shop to create the ultimate ride! Just in case you aren’t aware of the bike building process Troy has been going through, check out the following videos below…

It’s been a year now since those videos were posted and now it’s time for the big reveal. Instead of just taking photos or making a video of the new bike, Troy has decided to make it an event that will benefit the charity he’s been supporting. You know it’s great when a business supports a charity, but it’s even better when lots of people come together to join that business to also support the charity. Power in numbers to make a difference and all. Also, for every $1 donated, $5 worth of food is distributed. Here’s the video about the charity…

Now let’s get onto the charity event details and see how you can benefit from being a part of it. How about this… you’ll get to meet and hang out with Troy Duffy and some other Boondock Saints cast members. I understand that  Rocco, Sean Patrick Flanery, Julie Benz and Clifton Collins Jr. are to be on the guest list. Also, you can enter a raffle and if you have a Boondock Saints tattoo already, fans with existing Boondock Saints inspired tattoos will get a FREE raffle ticket.

I’ll post the FULL details and the flyer below.

Los Angeles, CA “The Boondock Saints” (www.boondocksaints.com) Writer/Director, Troy Duffy, will host a bevy of the movies’ fans, friends, cast and crew, on Thursday, October 13, 2011, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM, as he celebrates the reveal of his brand new, “LA Speed Shop” (www.laspeedshop.com) custom-built “Boondock-Saints”-themed motorcycle. The event, officially named “Boondock Saints Bike Reveal Benefitting Los Angeles Regional Foodbank/Feeding America”, will be housed in Mat Joseph’s Melrose Avenue art venue “Tuff Sissy & Co.” ( www.tuffsissy.com) and his neighboring “Freak Chic Tattoo” (www.freakchictattoo.com), and will benefit said local charity (www.lafoodbank.org).>

Fans of The Boondock Saints franchise have been following LA Speed Shop’s progress on-line, as owner Chris Richardson and his crew constructed Mr. Duffy’s bike. This event will serve as the official reveal of the completed machine, as well as a fan meet and greet for a portion of the movie franchise’s more than 4.5 million fans. The event will also feature a Boondock Saints movie memorabilia auction and raffle, and a portion of the sales proceeds will benefit Los Angeles Regional Foodbank.

Guests at the October 13 event will enjoy a hosted rum bar courtesy of Sailor Jerry (www.sailorjerry.com/the-rum); complimentary O.N.E. Coconut Water (www.onedrinks.com: www.marconarestaurant.com), scheduled to open mid-October, directly across Melrose Avenue from Tuff Sissy & Co./Freak Chic Tattoo. Inked Magazine (www.inkedmag.com) has joined the event as a media partner, and due to the tattoo-heavy presence featured in The Boondock Saints movies, Freak Chic Tattoo will be giving a special discount on limited-edition, hand-drawn Boondock Saints-themed tattoos, in the days leading up to the October 13 event’s start. Recipients of these exclusive tattoos will be automatically entered into the event’s raffle.

“We’re thrilled that Melrose Avenue mainstays like Freak Chic Tattoo and Tuff Sissy & Co. will be opening up their doors to our loyal fan base, cast and crew, for this charity event. I support the work of the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, and as excited as I am to see the fans’ reaction to my new Boondock Saints-themed LA Speed Shop bike, I’m equally as excited to see so many businesses and friends coming together to support this very worthy cause,” says Mr. Duffy.

Tuff Sissy & Co. and Freak Chic Tattoo are located at 7367 and 7365 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA, 90046 (between Fuller and Martel Avenues). Tattoo appointments at Freak Chic can be made by calling 323.951.1501.
