"Between 1968 and 1972, nine American spacecraft voyaged to the Moon, and 12 men walked upon its surface. They remain the only human beings to have stood on another world. In the Shadow of the Moon brings together for the first, and very possibly the last, time surviving crew members from every single Apollo mission which flew to the Moon, and allows them to tell their story in their own words."

- From the press release for "In the Shadow of the Moon"

Ron Howard, who directed "Apollo 13", and has always loved space recently helped get this fine documentary off the ground. Its a wonderful gesture to our pioneers who dared to touch the stars.

Bold adventure demands bold music and the score to "In the Shadow of the Moon" delivers both a rousing and moving musical tribute to the brave men of the Apollo missions.
Composer Phillip Sheppard, unlike most composers, came aboard from the very beginning of this project. By being able to look at the archives from NASA,including footage not seen or rarely seen,he was able to create this masterpiece. Be it from a solo piano and cello to the full might of a massive orchestra, choir and electronics,Sheppard's vision is just as bright and hopeful as the young men who bravely touched the moon.

Highly recommended.
